FILIP BLACK

Born in the vibrant city of Belgrade in 1979, Filip Black is an artist whose journey through multimedia has been marked by a profound connection between two worlds—Brooklyn and Belgrade. A graduate at a fine arts academy, Black has evolved into a creative force, leaving his imprint on graphic design, motion design, immersive installations, print, and drawing. Black envisions himself as a living portal, seamlessly connecting the creative energies of Brooklyn and Belgrade. After two decades in New York City, he has recently established a studio | gallery in Belgrade, serving as a dynamic hub that fosters communication between these two cities.
Black's talent has been recognized through his contributions to award-winning projects during his tenure at The Rockwell Group in NYC. Notable installations at Hudson Yards NYC, Nobu Fulton, and the MGM Grand in Macao His global artistic footprint extends to an invitation by the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art in Moscow, where he participated in the IV Street Art Biennale ARTMOSSPHERE. This international exposure reflects the universality of Black's visual language. It's characterized as savage minimalism. A deliberate choice of a limited color palette, the grace and elegance of Cyrillic type and the symbolic representation of the human form. The interplay of typography and automatic drawing, blended with dynamic depictions of the human figure, creates conceptually layered pieces that invite viewers to explore new dimensions of meaning. Additionally, his works have found a place in solo exhibitions, numerous group exhibitions and private collections.
